Update on Afterglow

Afterglow website banner

Afterglow, my current work in progress (set in Las Vegas), is coming along nicely. Check out the cover!

By nicely I mean I’d finished the first draft, but on reviewing it I realised there were two separate character arcs. The first character arc finished at the midpoint, and the second at the end of the book.

Rather than do a Hancock (the movie, which had two separate character arcs playing out one after the other like the first two episodes of a television series), I split Afterglow into two books – Afterglow and Menagerie (working title).

To ensure the stories worked with the same character arcs, I’ve added a new antagonist and threat for the first book. When you read it you’ll also discover a couple of friends from Moonlit Genesis which I’m sure you’ll be keen to catch up with.

I’ve finished the first draft of Afterglow now and I’m pretty happy with it. I think you’re going to love it too. It’s darker than I’d intended as it deals with some heavy subject matter, but I think it’s a better story for it.

I’ve just started writing (rewriting) Menagerie. You’ll find out why I’ve called it Menagerie soon enough.

If you live in Vegas (or used to), can you answer a question? When residents or police refer to the local police department or station, how would they express it? Ie, “Let’s go to the … ?” Station? Precinct? Command? Metro? That sort of thing.

Google’s helpful, but not that helpful.
