Book Review: City of Bridges by Andre Jones

What I've been reading lately

City of Bridges by Andre Jones is a highly imaginative epic fantasy which delivers a delightfully fresh take on the fantasy genre. The story begins when Leonie, a half feline, half human thief, lets her curiosity get the better of her when she tries to protect a courier from assassins. Consequently, she gets tangled up in a quest to protect the codex of prophecies the courier was carrying from warring religious factions.

With assassins on her tail (she has a tail), Leonie escapes the city hoping to deliver the codex to Styx, a rock-like creature, who she’s told can protect it. It’s not long before Leonie is in more trouble than a she can handle. Fortunately, she’s not alone. Feiron, her shapeshifting best friend, helps get her into nearly as much trouble as he causes.

Leoine doesn’t realise it yet, but her quest will take her on a path of discovery, beginning with the very origins of her own creation.

City of Bridges is a fun, action-packed adventure, but impressively it also has a depth to its storytelling and world that many fantasy stories seem to lack these days. The author’s clearly put a lot of time and love into this story.

Filled with an exceptional variety of creatures you’re not likely to find in any other fantasy, and a rare depth to its worldbuilding, City of Bridges is highly recommended. Grab your copy of City of Bridges on Amazon.
